A mighty fine view

We don't live in the flashiest of houses, or "the" area to be in. But we certainly do have one of the best views! Our garden is basically the 2nd tee, and beyond that is the sea and the mountains. When a certain little monster is all tucked up in bed, i venture out on to the golf course (shh don't tell the green keeper) and take in the view, quite often accompanied by my beautiful cat. Sometimes this is simply the best part of my day.

Laughter...my cure for everything

Laugh A Little
Laugh For Long,
Giggle, Chuckle, Chortle, Snort.
Laugh when the tears start rolling
Or when you've shared and lost.
Shriek and Chase The Funny Pain.

Titter with people you love,
Go on and make it hilarious.
Holding the folder in your hand,
Let out the laugh, just because.

Crack up at the priceless things,
when they're too short to live on.
Remind everyone with a howl,
what they hope for.

Laugh Until There's Nothing Left,
So No One Can Snatch That Away.

Wadrobe Wednesday!

This is my favorite outfit of the summer so far (please try and ignore the unkept hair and no makeup look...tres chique i know!). I picked up this gorgeous t-shirt at the Vintage Heaven shop in Nelson, it's hand made in Canada (so technically not vintage, just vintage look) and the lady in Nelson brings them in. I love it, sailing at dusk...*sigh* one of the wonderful things i would love to be doing if i wasn't at home watching my wee likkle monster sleep. I just love the boat neck design and the fit is just wonderful. If you are ever in Nelson you must go to Vintage Heaven on BRidge street (sadly they don't have a website).

Shorts a la Glassons and brown Jandals from Billabong (gotta have brown jandals!).

Valentines day addict

I love Valentines day, i have no idea why as no old boyfriend or the current (wonderful) husband share my sentiments. *Sigh* one day i would like to be swept of my feet in a romantic whirlwind (If not by the husband then i will settle for that hot blonde aussie guy from the Mentalist!). But as "V" day draws near the top dog Martha S has some wonderful crafts for kids (and big big kids) to make, J'adore.....

I'm going to attempt this one:

A birth(ing) gift

My darling husband said he was going to give me a lovely gift for bringing his beautiful little girl into the world, and it arrived today. So i just had to share!

In Maori mythology the Karearea (NZ falcon) was used as a messenger by Tohunga priests to speak with the heavens. Hopefully by wearing this beautiful wing someone will be looking over me and my beautiful baby girl.

On my lonesome again...

The other half is away for work again, 10 looooong days. I was over it at 10am on the first day as i love having him around and i have been so fortunate to have him home for 4 weeks over christmas (I know a lot of people don't have this so i count it as a blessing). But today's mantra is below (must be read along with a long hot double espresso!). It's going to be one of those days...

munch munch "yummy cot"

Out of need and frustration at the nibbling little monster and her only 2 teeth, i made a cot rail protector! We bought a lovely Touchwood cot, rather on the expensive side, and i nearly screeched when i saw the cheeky wee blighter gnawing at it and then grin at me!

So out came the sewing machine...

A splash of colour.

Oh so pretty!

Working like a charm...

See how my garden grows...

I am quite proud of myself...i have done something for myself which doesn't involve babies :D I thought it would be nice to have some colour in the garden with some good old fashioned nana flowers and each year we always plant our own veggies. Well the husband likes to compost EVERYTHING, but never gets the compost to the veggies, he just likes to compost. So i have been waiting patiently for the "black gold" to ripen from the compost bin to pop onto my garden. Seems the coffee grounds and bits and bobs have done well this year and i'm looking forward to having boc choi for the first time straight out of my own garden!

Barnicoat Road run

My fitness levels are getting much better, it's been a long road back to even this stage (dodgy hip from too much relaxin during pregnancy). So a run i did today made me very proud of all my hard efforts to date, basically this run goes UP and up and up. You climb 505m in just over 3k's so it's pretty steep, and its so good at the top people paraglide off it! The views are AMAZING, you can see all of Nelson you feel on top of the world. It's well worth the slog up (and a few lollies from my secret stash down my sports bra). The only downside is the rather boring downhill after, but after asking the husband you can actually do a loop round via a new MTB trail. So that's my plan for next time! It took me 34mins to get to the top, it takes my husband 30mins to MTB up, so needless to say he was rather impressed with my running! I took a victory pic at the top on my phone but i'm still trying to work out how to get the pic off the phone (blonde moment). IF you click "view elevation" you will see the nasty likkle hill on a better scale. If your ever in Nelson this is an awesome run or walk, take some lollies for the top!

Mama and me...

It is usually me behind the camera taking a gazillion photo's of Sabine, but for a change today, the other half took one of me and my wee pickle together! Despite a wee frown on her face it's a lovely picture! And i am particularly proud of my tan hehehe. Good job i had my hair done today so i don't reseble a two tonne zebra.

Cardboard playhouse

Sabine's favorite game is hide and seek and "BOO" so i thought she might like a little playhouse to hide away in. So out came the stanley knife and i whipped this up in about 2mins! Instant squeals of delight and tonnes of smiles. It's so easy to do and i am thinking of adding some curtains and a few details later, but as you can see the simplest of designs is certainly the best!
